Scope: This specification covers the engineering requirements for the deposition of a thin, dense chromium on surfaces of ferrous and nonferrous alloys and the properties of the coating. Primarily for use on metallic parts for increasing abrasion resistance, preventing galling and seizing, resisting erosion, and increasing corrosion resistance. This coating is not recommended for use on magnesium or lead alloys, or on beryllium.
